Referral Compliance

Regarding the adsense ad units, the guide lines say:

    • May not place misleading labels above Google ad units - for instance, ads may be labelled "Sponsored Links" but not "Favourite Sites"

However my question is about the referral buttons, one style is a text link, I was wondering is it within the TOS to include these text-link-style referrals in a sentence?

For example, one of the referrals says 'Get Firefox with Google Toolbar'.
I would like to include this in a sentence such as,
'For better browsing Get Firefox with Google Toolbar'.

    Thanks for any info.
    Harro ;)

Are you trying to add more text/ change the text for referal button graphics? If so wouldn't you have to manipulate the code given to you.. which is against TOS.

Thanks for your reply, I dont wish to add more text or change the actual referral button, just place the button within a sentence or paragraph.

Using the example from above, I would use the following code:

    <p>For better browsing {insert referral code here}</p>
    HTML:
To output a sentence that begins, 'For better browsing' followed by the text-link-style referral button.

As far as i can see it dosnt mention anything about that, but I just want to make sure, thanks.

Hmm.. that is somewhat manipulating the referal text...

Go a different direction with this: what would work better if you wrote a short text on how great ___ tool is.. and then have the refer button below it. It is more convincing.
