Are you placing some worthless meta tags that are of no SEO value? I have seen tons of websites placing some worthless and pointless meta tags in their header which pushes their actual content further down in their codings and increasing their page's size. A page's size and loading time does affect SERPs and i have proven it with an experiment in the past. One of my site was ranked #4 with a total size of 52k and a loading time of 0.9s. After removing 5 worthless tags and javascripts, i reduced the weight to 15k and loading time of 0.7s which within a few days over-ranked the #3 site which was weighted 46k and took its position at #3. Removing these worthless tags are actually helping the spiders to crawl your page easily because your actual content will be nearer to the top. If you still don't know, spiders crawl a page line by line and it is always better to place your keywords nearer to the body tag. I think It does not increase page size much by using html compressor page can be reduced and only flaw in that html page donot remain editable,to remove that allways keep the non compressed copy with you Regards Alex
Html compressor and are you sure that the spiders can read the lines? Any way as long as your size is below a 100k and loading time is not more than 0.9s, it should be ok.
But I have been noticing that top websites actually tend to have longer loading time with flash or animation intro - I guess it does not really matters when you are already "up there"
I am unsure about your claim. However, for my niches, most top ranking sites have short loading time and page size of less than 100k. Any way flash sites are hard to optimize for and usually they will not appear at the top of the page. Maybe you can share with us the keyword that display flash site as the top ranking and let us learn the techniques used in ranking their site. You can try this trick to over-rank your next competitor. Should be able to see result in days after Google next visit to your site.
I don't know about using an HTML compressor, but it is very true that content should be at the top of the page and as little markup, tables, javascript as possible. I've read that Google really doesn't like javascript and flash sites are like any other; they need a lot of good content and backlinks.
Flash sites can be optimized by using javascript to detect if flash is supported, and show textual contents if flash is not supported which means that spiders will be seeing textual contents while normal humans will see flash content.
In SEP the page size is affecting? One of my site got high page rank by adding more content (size increesed). I dint work on other SEo method only worked in adding content and some images so its took more time to load even got promotion on SERPs . Any how according to my exp its not effected on SERPs
