Reduce PDF file size?

Does anyone know of a way to reduce PDF file sizes?

I have a couple of PDF files with a file size of about 1,200 kb and would like to reduce the size for quicker uploading from my site.

Alright, if the PDF has images in it, go into the Images tab in the PDF Optimizer, and lower the quality of the images, it will compress the images more, the quality will be decreased, but it's one option.

If you are using a font that you know most or everybody has on their computer, you can unembed the fonts in the PDF Optimizer in the Fonts tab.

If you know what you are doing, you can also go in the Clean Up tab and choose to discard some elements, if you don't know what they are, don't touch them.

 

Easy, just go to
File > Reduce File Size...

Then choose a lower version and it works great.

Look at your finished pdf and make sure it is still an OK quality. Depending on what aspects of the pdf were images, optimizing it can have very poor results.

 

If you have layers in your PDF, flatten them (into 1 layer) and it'll make your files smaller
