Hi, Im again concerned that the quality of forum is going to the dogs If its not the poor quality of posts, lack of decent english, amount of users only here to score freebies and not contribute or amount of people who post a new threads instead of searching first - it always something that ruins the enjoyment of the forum for others. You try to ignore it but after a while its gets frustrating to see the gradual decline downhill.......... In the last week or so i have spotted at least 4 ebook sellers in the buy/sell section who have been trying to sell ebooks that are written by other authors with NO permission or resell rights. They get them free then most times without even changing any info they try to sell them at some big price on unsuspecting customers - in one case it was even a higher price than what the original sales website was selling the ebook Maybe DP needs to start a small listing fee to weed out these scammers to let the real sellers do their legit business? Are these newbs that dumb to thing it will not be noticed and most of the members here are also members of the source where they get these ebooks illegally for free like BHW forums.......... suggested solution: Using big bold writing can we at least put it in the fine print of when signing up to be a member OR the rules or sticky rules in the thread sections before you list that if you sell a digital product written by another person: 1) you must own resell licence rights or permission to do so 2) if anyone has a reason to suspect you may not meet condition 1) then you have show proof to mods etc. Any failure to meet these conditons results in instant banning from the forums for decpetive and illegal conduct. Surely dp does not want to run into legal problems because it allow its members to sell copyrighted or trademarked material with out permission? It hurts the people who go to the time, money and effort to publish the original digital product or spend big money to buy legit resell licence rights from the author when people try to do it for free. Its too easy - lets make some changes hey? Can mods do something or is up to the members to act as moderators themselves to try to keep the forum standard up and stop illegal activities? There has been changes made to the forum to improve it - how about we make some more that will make a difference Thank-you
I agree with you.. some people are violating copyright rules and selling ebooks without proper resell rights..but its such a huge forum with lot of members,,checking everything by mods is difficult and almost impossible.. that why mods avoid any mediation with trade between two members. The best moderator in this case are we members, we need to bring these issue in the forum and report about it to owner and mods..
Not only that, those retards threaten users who bust them. I found one guy selling a WSO ebook over here http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1549892 and after I post the warning on the thread he started threatening me via PM and visitor messages that he would harm my sales and etc. I had to run around to atleast 4 moderators before finally one of them took action. Now I'm worried that he might do something when his ban get over. I would suggest that there be a permanent BAN for people selling something they have no rights to. It's not that hard to find out most of the times.
If something is being sold illegally, report it to mods with PROOF. Owners of the actual material being sold can also send a DMCA notice to Shawn, but generally if there's enough proof we'll be able to remove it. Just don't report things that you think aren't legit without that proof. We won't go digging for it if you give us nothing to work with. Best option is to have the original owner contact us and have them send us a copy of the original license showing that there are no resell options available (personally, I make the owner email me from the domain name of the product site for further verification that they're the owner and not just a random person trying to ruin someone else's business -- that happens here too).
