Hi DP Members, I recently searched the keyword "Emerald" and found the website "emeraldinsight.com" in the first place of the Google listing. But when I clicked on the link it got redirected to "emeraldinsight.com/Insight/menuNavigation.do?hdAction=InsightHome". When I searched through some other popular sites I came across the same redirects and they are performing well for some very competitive keywords. My question is, what kind of a redirect they are using and does it adds up any value to the site in search engine point of view. Another keyword to look for is "reliance" and the find the first site in the list.
It's not the redirects they are using makes them be no.1 but the huge number of backlinks. And many of them are high quality: edu, dmoz, wikipedia. From a SEO point of wien the redirects are not done well they are 302 instead of 301 check
Thank you pub sit for the response as well for the web sniffer link. But I don't understand why one should do a redirect without having any kind of benefit.
Obviously must be using 301 redirect. Mostly People redirect because Page URL changes though many do it unknowingly (poor knowledge of CMS and SEO). Newspaper websites are great example of it.
