Redirection: Please help Me

    Hi All,

    I had some portals which I have merged into one other portal. I have all the pages and applied redirection 301 on them. By this all the URLs have changed and new URLs have formed. The new pages are yet to be crawled and indexed.

    The traffic has decreased and also the revenue.

    Please suggest the measures to take in order to regain the traffic and the revenue ASAP.

    Well there must be some error, 301 should have minimal impact on both indexing and traffic. Make sure all your old URLs work and are redirected correctly...

    Did you merge domains as well?

    It's impossible to help you without knowing some of your URLs. What are some examples of URLs on the sites that were redirected and where were they redirected to?

    The search engine will follow your 301 redirect and should index you new pages.
    You could ping your new pages and your old pages too cause u made some modiffications on them (the redirect) and they will be crawled.
    I wrote a guide that could get you indexed in less than 20h.Check out my sig ... i'm sure it will help you and the search engines will help you too with your redirect.It will take some time for the old pages to be assigned to the new pages.
