Redirecting WWW to non-WWW was a good move?

Hi guys...last week I redirected my site from www to non www through .htaccess....also I made non www preferred in google webmaster tool because I was advised these by some one and SEO Tools as well. I selected non www because I have more pages indexed on this format and have more backlinks in this format. But this has dropped traffic on my site...my all images got de-indexed (above 100). In this way I lost all my images traffic. I don't see much drop in SERPs...

So will I get my images indexed again?
    Will my traffic increase?
Was this a positive move? or I made mistake?

Any advices and replies would be appreciated
    Thanks,
    kutchi

Did you do anything else to the site around that time?
I have not seen a noticable drop in SERPs and/or traffic as a result of redirecting www to non-www, providing it was handled correctly.

I noticed on racing-f1.com (is this the site you are talking about?) that when entering www.racing-f1.com it does redirect, but does not provide a 301 Moved Permenently header, which suggests your .htaccess redirect is not correctly configured. This may cause the problem you are seeing.
