Redirecting links: /2009/anything to /blog/2009/anything

I had a wordpress blog on root.

Now I have to move to /blog, and put a drupal site on root.

    I want all links like;
    http://www.example.com/2009/11/some-post-title/

    to

    http://www.example.com/blog/2009/11/some-post-title/

    and

    http://example.com/2009/11/some-post-title/

    to

    http://example.com/blog/2009/11/some-post-title/

i.e. to redirect all urls starting with 2009 to /blog suffixing the original path.

While there will be another site on http://example.com/, built with Drupal, clean urls enabled. So I need both sites work.

There is already a .htaccess file, from drupal in root folder.

Put this line in your htaccess just after the RewriteEngine On line
    RewriteRule ^/?(2009/.*)$ /blog/$1 [L]

I haven't tried it on example.com, but tried subdomain.example.com in same way, and it didn't work.

I am getting a 404 error page of Drupal, and no change in URL occured.

starter needs old pages /2009/... be accessed as blog/2009/... but you did vice versa

    Try this one

    RewriteRule ^blog/([0-9]+/.*)$ $1 [L]

    Code (markup):
