Redirecting a split site for new website launch, without loosing Google Rankings

We are launching a new version of our website and I want to ensure I do everything possible not to mess up the SEO.

The situation is as follows - we have a website structured like this:

    www.site.com/section-1/
    www.site.com/section-2/

    (Windows Server built in ASP.NET)

Now on developing the new website for launch, /section-1/ is all complete and ready to launch.

/section-2/ however is not and needs to use the old code until we are able to fully develop it on the new platform.

So what we will have is:

www.site.com/section-1/ (Running all the New code)
    www.site.com/section-2/ (Running the OLD code)

According to our developers we cannot have both sets of code running on the same domain, so we are proposing to set it up like this:

www.site.com/section-1/ (Running all the New code)
    www2.site.com/section-2/ (Running the OLD code)

So the old code is running on www2 , and the new code will be on the current normal domain www.

My main concern is I do not want to loose our SEO ranking for /section-2/ .

So what is the best way to do this without loosing rankings, and at the same time getting people to the content already indexed in the SE's?

My proposed method is to, get any people landing on the old URL's for /section-2/ simply redirected via a 302 redirect to the same page on www2.

However, I want to double check that I am using the correct method and will not loose rankings.

    thanks
