Redirecting a directory to a new domain

We have a section on our website that we would like to spinoff to a new website.

Right now it sits at domain.com/keyword/

The whole section is just that one page, and it ranks well for that keyword.

If we do a 301 redirect from domain.com/keyword/ to newdomain.com - should we expect to retain our search engine rankings?

From my own experience, I've 301's entire sites to new domains without a loss in rankings. Occassionally I'll get a few spikes/drops, but nothing permanent.

    Hello...

You should ask that question in the directory section where you would get more
responces being that you are reffering to a directory.

    thx

We're not talking about a Directory site. We're talking about redirecting one directory (e.g. domain/directory/) from an existing site.
