    Beginner needs help.
I have blog on blogger and I've been thinking about new domain in a different place. What happends if I redirect to my new domain (not sure if I use correct term here).
The point is that my blog is the most popular in my niche and articles appear on the first places in Google. I wonder if redirecting will affect popularity somehow.
Meaning, all the links from Google would go to new blog's home page, not the articles themselves.

Let's say I do not want to use blogger URL any more. I want my domain adress instead.

Friend, DON'T do redirect...Just create a Header Bar with a hyperlink Dofollow to your new site so then all of your current content and site still receives traffic and rankings and reputation.... at JordanEske.com you will see my likable content as well as other things that I want to share with my users. Another site, NaturalNews.com you can see how that website creator places navigational links to other sites in different niches.

This one is a bit tricky without knowing a little more information. May I ask what the niche is? And just how much traffic are you receiving at the moment (how many daily unique visits)?

Whatever way you do it, if you're starting on a new domain, you're going to lose popularity with Google. Are you using the exact same website on a new domain or are you going to rebuild it.

If it's going to be exactly the same website the best thing you could do is set up a load of 301 redirects. At least that way Google will be sent to the new website when it tries to access the old domain.

Google is more clever than you think. Your rankings may go down for a few months but you'll probably see them go back up again in no time.

If you just want to add a domain in Blogger, (https://support.google.com/blogger/troubleshooter/1233381?hl=en), it will auto redirect your blogger URL to your new domain.
If you want to move to a new site (such as self hosted Wordpress) then you need to apply 301.
If it's done correctly, you should be able to retain the position (or at least similar) on Google search result.

You need to read some things about htaccess according to me... Because it's not a good idea to redirect all articles to the homepage of the new domain... ;)

Agreed. If you're going to have to do 301 redirects you should make sure to redirect each article to it's new url. Redirecting everything to one page will knock you out of the field with search engines.

I suggest outsourcing this task. You could probably get it done for quite cheap on elance.com and save yourself a lot of time (depending on the size of the site obviously).

    Any news fatymid?
