Redirect site to subdirectory

Hi Guys,

I have yet another redirection question.

I have an old site which I'm no longer working on updating. It's 4 years old, listed in dmoz and well indexed by engines.

The same topic that that site covers is now part of my new site.

I want to know if I should automatically redirect all traffic from www.site1.com to www.site2.com/subdir or just have a single page on site one saying that the site has now closed, go visit site 2.


Any help or ideas appreciated.

I would use a 301 redirect from each page on www.site1.com to the same page on www.site2.com/subdir.

the pages wan't be the same ... the DB is same but presentaiotn is a whole different UI.

 

just apply the redirect codes from site1 to site2, leave this task to your web developer!

 

use 301 redirect from old one to the new one. i also suggest you to edit your site info on dmoz

 

Merely 301 redirect from your site 1 to site 2 and inform the editor of DMOZ for this so that they can list your website in other category.

Secondly redirectly your site site 1 to site 2 will take some time to bring page rank to normal. So wait until google crawl all your backlinks.
