Let's take a real world example on this... www.blazemp.com and www.cdhnow.com/mw.asp --- both of these share common keywords that they rank for and such. www.blazemp.com ranks better than www.cdhnow.com/mw.asp because I concentrate on blazemp.com. So here's my question... Should I redirect www.cdhnow.com/mw.asp to www.blazemp.com? Would it make www.blazemp.com stronger and improve things overall, be better to keep separate...or? (they are basically the same product...Media Wizard came before Blaze Media Pro, and Blaze Media Pro developed from it). Anyway, is there a chance this could have a bad effect? What are your thoughts on the matter all things considered?
I don't see any SEO benefit in redirecting www.cdhnow.com/mw.asp to www.blazemp.com unless you are looking at any PR transfer from www.cdhnow.com/mw.asp to www.blazemp.com
Would the PR increase be a benefit to me for rankings? I thought that since (for example) blazemp.com ranks for DVD burning software, and cdhnow.com/mw.asp ranks for that too, if I did a redirect that the two combined might increase the ranking for searches like that. Maybe that's not how it works, though...
I think its better to leave them apart. cdhnow ranks for some keywords also because of the text on the page, and redirecting will remove those.. Most likely it will not help blaze at all, but you will lose most traffic from cdhnow. There is also the risk that the search engines will not like this move and penalize blaze, and though unlikely I dont think it would outweight the possible benefits.
