Redirect in cPanel?

Is this the same as a 301 redirect?

I purchased a new domain and would like to point the domain to the site without losing any traffic, PR etc. My current site's cpanel has a redirect option but do I need to change the dns for the new domain?

Currently it is still parked with the registrar. Do I need to do anything there or can I just use the redirect option in cpanel?

If you select the permanent from the drop down list, it will be a 301 redirect. The temporary performs a 302 redirect.

Excellent erobs. That makes things a whole lot easier. So, I don't need to do anything with the new domain, just leave it parked?

If you're worried about Pagerank, do select the 301 redirect because 302 will not pass on pagerank.
