Redirect from indexed pages that were deleted

    Hi,

    I have just deleted about 2000 pages from my site that were indexed by Google.. how can make it so the users will get redirected when they follow this pages from Google and to make it SEO friendly so I will not get penalized

    the best you can do now is create a custom 404 error page.

    I had to delete a directory with thousand of pages before and I used the .htaccess file to redirect the entire directory to another.

    If you are on godaddy, go to control panel oh yout hosting site, change the defauly page to home page of your site or any important page.
