redirect does not function properly

    Hi!

    I'm trying to redirect:
    http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au/index.php

    to go to :

    http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au

I've tried a 301 through cpanel, but it does not like this... the page won't load at all. I've tried a redirect in htaccess... same result...

I suspect it does not like this, since http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au actually loads the index.php script... Since the little website was generated through rvsitebuilder, I do not have access to the code...

I have good reasons for doing this, but can't seem to find a way of doing it... can anyone suggest why, or know a way to do it?

    Thanks a lot!

I had an unexpected problem with cPanel redirecting a shortened URL to a lengthy Yahoo Maps URL. I used a free URL shortening service that had no problem with the redirect. My preference is to use cPanel for redirects, so my question is related to yours. Are there limitations (characters, length) to cPanel's Redirect?

    TIA

No I don't think it is, since a modrewrite in the htaccess file did not work either...

There is a message from firefox saying: "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. "

I guess that's clue that it's going around in circles...but I don't know how to fix it... I've asked my host to look into it.. but still haven't got a reply...not impressed with them!

If index.php is your default file, any requests for:

    http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au or
    http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au/

    would be sent to http://avalox.oneofakindtrading.com.au/index.php.

Even if the site is built in RVsitebuilder, you should have access to the code. What about a redirect through the registrar?
