A Reddit mod/admin has been leaking information about which subreddits I visit, which account usernames I've made, and has been sharing this information with my former co-workers. Long story but basically I got this guy i used to work with in trouble at work for doing something illegal. He has a group chat going with some friends and co-workers from my old job. He has drugged me and livestreamed it to the internet. He has left countless scratches on my car and they have threatened me. This moderator/admin is editing my posts on Reddit to mock me and he's been getting all his POS friends to downvote me. https://www.reddit.com/r/Winnipeg/comments/9796cu/warning_your_information_on_reddit_is_not_safe/ Please see the proof in that thread. I'm sure I can find a cached version of my original post somewhere
I wouldn't be worried about downvotes I'd be very worried about how you were drugged and kidnapped - thank goodness there were tapes!! I'd be talking to my parents, my employer, my lawyer and the police and I wouldn't rest until the kidnapping charges were successfully tried in court. Expecting volunteer moderators to keep content secure is naive - even if the current batch are good you never know who will have access a year from now. Your lawyer will have the information needed to ensure that you don't suffer any penalties for your own behaviour, but even if you do it'll be a small price to pay for bringing kidnappers to justice. Make no mistake, if someone drugs you and prevents you from going about your day, that's kidnap. FWIW if you'd gone to a doctor straight away you could have had the equivalent of a rape kit done to prove you'd been drugged and held against your will. These guys appear to have more of the back story though I'm guessing there's an element of gay bashing in there, don't mix with people who don't accept you for who you are.
Wow, very creepy case, you know.. You have to do something with that as they have no rights for behaving like this for sure! I've heard about downwotes and the public on reddit is not too friendly on the whole.. But moderator that steals your information and passes it to 3rd parties - it's too much!
A couple years ago I found out that I was being stalked on Reddit. I didnt know how but a couple co-workers mentioned usernames I had made and I felt very suspicious. I had not linked the username mentioned to an email address at all. I found out that someone with administrator privileges at Reddit is tampering with my accounts. I noticed posts that I did not make and they were editing some of them. See this one below. The admin edited every single post that I had made. https://www.reddit.com/r/gay/comments/6wev07/help_i_thought_these_guys_were_my_friends_but/ I had posted this thread because I was drugged by two of the guys harassing me. Reddit admin has a group chat going with several co-workers at my work. I know this because like I said several different people have mentioned account names and stuff I've posted. Huge privacy breach. I am in Canada how can I go about dealing with this? Reddit does have a privacy email. I sent an email and they asked me my username and I received no further replies.
Talk to a lawyer about your legal avenues. Put your evidence in a folder you can share with the lawyer and be prepared to be questioned over and over because there's a lot to take in. You will need to explain why you believe you've been singled out from the millions of other reddit users. Right now, you need to stop using Reddit to post or comment. Limit where you talk about it online including here. Follow your lawyer's advice! Edit: Threads merged
People inevitably give something away. Just look at the Netflix doco on the cat killer - if people want to dox you they will find a way. We have people here who think they can run porn sites and hide it from their conservative family and community. Technically that should be possible but most people lack the self-discipline to keep their wholesome and not-so-wholesome lives apart and get caught. Reddit is no different.
