hi all, if any of the forum experts could please advise, how can i protect against people who cancel after 1 month , then subscribe again to keep taking advantage of the initial price $20 discount (I will be offering a discount initial price which will be $20 lower than the standard recurring monthly subscription fee.) thanks for any answers
Just put up a term saying this is not allowed, and you'll ban people that do this. Can't see it happening too much if the service you offer is good, and really even if people ARE doing this, can't imagine it being a high percentage, and you still make money - consider it an exploit you still monetize on a few people instead of a loss. Or just ban them, show it publically to set example.
thank you NCMedia for your answer... do u know if clickbank autoblocks people trying to do this? eg if clickbank see the same credit card, paypal account, email addrss or IP address...then does clickbank auto charge them the recurring monthly fee instead of the inititial discount again?
No, i believe no matter what card/paypal they use or re-use, they'll still go through your original customer journey. I've never heard of bypassing the original payment for repeat buyers. I have a recur/discount first payment on a few products, this is never a problem for me - what are you selling for people to do this enough that you would even notice?
ah ok... sorry for not making clear, was asking in case it happens in the future...it hasn't actually happened...my website is a sports betting tips website (send out betting picks to subscribers) thanks again
I see, Yeah it's good to be proactive instead of reactive, however you're being a bit paranoid (it's ok to be it's $$ after all). Your niche is risky, so perhaps you MIGHT see this happen here or there (still doubt it) if you do, I'd still say let it slide, if they are serial cancel/re-order types you actually may make more from them in the long-run vs. cancelling after going broke and never returning... Either way you still bank.
Agreed with the above, I don't think it will be that much of a problem. Its similar to the perceived problem that people can simply purchase anything and instantly refund... which does happen, but much, MUCH LESS than you would imagine.
