Just wanted to get everyones opinion on this. Curently I am using the 336 x 280 ad on my article pages. I have the ad just under the title with the article right below it. This leaves an empty space to the right side of the rectangle. Do you guys think that way is best or should i pull the article text up so the article starts beside the rectangle ad on the right side where there used to be the empty space or is it better the way it is just below the ad. I think it looks nicer with the text beside the ad but im not sure if it would work as well concerning CTR. Any thoughts?
medium rectangle is most effective when placed just below a long article. If you have small post then go with a half banner at the top. I hope this helps jack
Well, most of my articles are about a medium length. For any that are shorter I use a banner under the title instead of the rectangle. The rectangle up top definatly does well so its going to stay there and I found haveing ads above and below the article not that effective so i use a horizontal adlink in the footer instead and that seems to do alright without the page looking to spammy. I have found less is usually more, too many ads are a turn off. Still would love to hear peoples thoughts on my original question.
Why not center the 336x280 ad unit? This is what I do on most of my blogs, and I have on average 8-10% CTRs www.ceweblogs.com Hope this helps GG
My CTR doubled when I put a large rectangle at the end of the article. If I put the large rectangle under the title and before the text, my CTR drops like crazy.
Very interesting dadasays .... was your CTR like 2-4% and it doubled, or was it 8-10% and doubled? What types of sites are you doing this for? Does anybody else have similar experiences, because usually google's heat map is pretty bang on the money, as they want your ads to get clicked also (its how they make money too ... LOL)
