Caryl, I saw a huge improvement yesterday on 3 sites with about half of the keywords rising to their pre-Jagger positions. It was almost like Jagger had never happened. I spot checked allins and they too were at the old levels. Today it pretty much all sucks. At least I got 24 hours of that good'ol irrational exuberance feeling. . -jay
I have seen the API hanging up with odd errors (from my own tracking scripts) since this update began. There seems to be no patern to it that I can work out. My keywords are cycled through from a database and the connections into the API rarely fail at the same keywords. My keywords aren't back to anywhere useful, but they are better than last week.
Jay, I have been trying to check the allins at different times throughout the day (ever since they dropped). I have yet to witness even a modest or temporary improvement. But, as I have said (somewhere) these changes seem to occur in waves. I expect some folks will see these types of "recoveries" in the coming days, while our sites might be once again plunged to the depths. No matter how long this Google Event takes to unfold, I hope folks will remain diligent in reporting updates on their effected sites. The importance of doing this is for historical referrence! I can search on forums to find threads on Florida and Bourbon updates, however, the threads usually fade out with no real information on how things finally resolved. Caryl
I am seeing some recovery. Still, not alot. And a few phrases seem to drop and comeback the next day. It seems as though this update went out half done, this is perhaps an opportunity to see the last bits of what happens to the serp database. I have read some speculation that Google has to update every so often, perhaps due to a TTL limitation in the data or something. I expect some of the weird internal page PR I see to even out eventually, perhaps an adustment in the coming week. (OK, perhaps this is more hope than anything at this point ) Caryl, I too have seen the Google Server Errors for keywords/pages affected by this update. I go back and click on anything that drops out daily, and sometimes I will go and check again 8 or so hours later to find that it is not giving the error. None today. I do wonder if the API is complete... perhaps those phrases or pages were not included. And it bugs me to no end that the Florida and Bourbon updates really have no good resolution threads anywhere. They would come in handy right now.
One of my keyphrases jumped from sub-200 to number one on Wed last week, lasted about 18 hours, then was gong again. Then I had a flurry of orders yesterday (saturday), so it must have happened again, but today everything is under 200 again. Except for one medium/low competive keyphrase that has stayed number one this entire update. This update is just plain wierd.
Very little change for me for my best words (still 700's). Average words are in the 70's/ 80's. And, woohoo, 2 words made it top 40. These were all previously top 10 words. I'm noticing a new thing that's bothering me with some Page 1 results now & that's Adsense pages in the top 10, like this http://www.ojtrio.com/patio_ann_arbor/copper_fence_post_cap.html or http://www.nigeriadelhi.com/hats/20/keyword2876.html are they allowed??
searched: candles and 2nd result, candles-museum is not active, no cache and no backlinks. This just showed up last night. Strange Brew
Daily, weekly, and monthly tracking shows far more green than red. Some KW phrase results: #1 for "Pentecostal Bible Studies" #2 for "Pentecostal Sermon Outlines" #3 for "charismatic bible studies" #4 for "Free Pentecostal sermons" #5 for "Bible teachings" Granted, none of these is what I would term "competitive" KWs, in the sense of number of daily searches. But in my field of endeavor, they are meaningful terms, so we are happy. Another interesting area of growth is: StatCounter shows two days this week of over 500 daily page loads, one of those days with 241 unique visitors. These numbers are up. PR went up broadly, so I for one am pleased with the update.
Still no love for my previously best ranked words. Still looking at anywhere from 60 to 350 positions lower than previous.
My referrals are down about 90% with no recovery in sight. It's a database driven site with about 1000 pages of useful content. I'm hopeful of recovery but I know it's a long-shot.
Just checked a my favorite keyword phase for my site and it has move from #110 to #80. Going in the right direction. There is hope

fworth Hi, just run the keyword analysis and my results are above---it can't find me at all (!) does this mean that i'm in the sandbox? And why do i have onle 7 links with google? Trying to figure out why google doesn't like me. fworth Wouldn't take this glitch in the SERPs personally. Financially, yes... I'm still totally miffed about the chaos and hardships this update is causing. I would've expected google to be able to correct their index data with all the minds and resources they employ. It's been a stellar year for the unexpected. Hopefully it all comes out in the wash in due course...
To me allinanchor positions are improving past three days. But rankings are still in 800+. ( For main keyword ) All other auxiallry keywords that ranked based on internal links came back to exact / better position before the update. Anyone else seeing this ?
The site I copied all of my content to just this morning started to rank in Google. Does that count as a recovery?
Nothing, nada, zilch. The only thing that has changed for me this morning is that there is only one column of big red numbers on the DP keyword checker - the monthly column. The weekly column has disappeared because we are now into a second week of this nightmare.
Will, I would be very interested in getting updates from you on how this is going. I'll probably ride out all three phases and then make the final decision to do what you've done based on traffic volumes.
