I have question about recovery disks. I got a new dell laptop today and the OS recommended I make a recovery disc (since no OS disc came with laptop). It says the recovery disc needs 7.6GB but I only have a 4.6gb DVD disk on me. Tomorrow I'll go out and buy a 2nd dvd disc. My question is if I upload personal files to my laptop (from old PC) and then back up tomorrow using two recovery disc, will my personal files be included ? I don't want personal files to be included, just the files from the OS to make a fresh reinstall if I need to.

No. Your personal files, and any applications that you've installed will not be included.
Running the "make a recovery disk" wizard will do exactly what you want.

Once you've burnt the DVDs, make at least one extra copy of them.
While you're at it, you might want to check out the free edition of Macrium Reflect - get your laptop setup how your want it, then make an image of your drive in case you want to roll back the clock without using the Windows recovery discs. Doing this WILL backup any personal files (and Windows, and everything else).
