I do not recommend the automated tools. Only semi-automated - at least you have control and may verify the category you submit your site to. Don't expect the immediately results in SERP. Below is few tips for submission to directories: New Domain - sites which were not in search engines results or have few back links and less that 3 months old display in SERP: - First week max 8-10 directories/day. Best submit to the "New" directories with PR0 - fast review, gets fast links, search engines start indexing your page - Next 7-10 days max 15 directories/day - 10 directories with hight PR - must wait more time to review but strong links - 5 directories with quick review - Rest time 10-15 directories / day - Any Directories , added every day , constantly. When directories list finishing best way to last 10 days add max 5 directories / day Standard Domains - less than 1 year old, some back links and indexed pages: Best way to start adding to directories form hight PageRank - First week 15-20 directories/day - Next weeks 10-15 submissions/day Old Domain - have been more than a 1-2 years in search engines, internal pages indexed some good hight back links to web page have Page Rank 3+ or/and older than 2Years: There are no no special rules, Suffice that the links will be added in the measure evenly, old domains are privileged and they can hold out stronger amounts of links to them from directories and the possibility of the filter or ban is very small.
Any reason why you chose the numbers you did? Experience? Somewhat arbitrary? Also: I've been submitting to directories fairly regularly but since the time delay for approval varies so much for them, isn't it better to submit a bunch knowing that they won't all become approved at once?
It's better to manually submit your site to directories so that you can check first the quality of each directories and submit your site to the most related category.
