I wouldn't even bother getting a VPS, with the prices of vps servers you can get dedicated servers.. I can offer you the following.

    intel e2160
    80 gb disk
    1gb ddr2 ram
    100 mbit unmetered shared bandwidth
    directadmin controlpanel (if neccesary)

    65,- eur per month

Thanks for your offer but I also need cPanel as I am not a unix expert and direct admin is not the best solution for me. 65 euro is a little too much for my budget at this point.

    regards,
    r.

What do you goes think about MediaTemple's New VE Server? http://mediatemple.net/webhosting/ve/
I am thinking of replacing my DV Server 3 with the VE but want to know your thoughts. They have RAID 10 SAS which I read was the old downfall of the DV servers.

Migrated from MediaTemple to ServInt and I love it so far. Quick 24/7 support that is really fast to answer/help.
I used the migration manager to download everything from mediatemple and within 40 min I was fully transferred and running on ServInt Server. I am currently hosting HellHorror.com from the server and it seems a little faster and that burstable memory really helps.

For a reliable Virtual Private Server solution I would highly recommend looking into Hostgator solutions.

I'm not exactly what is your budget, but HostGator offers a Virtual Private Server with 768 MB of ram for $49.95 a month with cPanel/WHM included.

You may also find few coupons online which may provide you a discount on the Virtual Private Server.

I've been using star dot hosting for the last year now (google "stardothosting") , they're really good. 10-15 minute ticket response time and their network seems more stable than linode's (where i was previously)

Not many providers allow proxy sites for obvious reasons, such as server abuse, etc.

I did use AgeVPS a few months ago though and thought they were very good, especially with managed sides of things. And I don't see any mention of proxy sites being mentioned in their Terms of Services. You would have to check with them about that.

I am using the Signature VPS plan which is $89/month and I have to say that I won't turn back to MediaTemple. Tickets are responded fast and it feels so weird writing a ticket and actually having someone assist you instead of sending back a response with a link to a knowledge base article or blog post LoL, seriously that is what MediaTemple does. I even tried to stay at MediaTemple with their new ve server plans, and all tickets were responded to in that matter. You become somewhat of an IT expert with them cause you are doing 100% of all the server tinkering. LoL
