Want to setup an LLC for my online adventures and was wondering if anyone had done the same (and why you chose the LLC model). Most importantly, do you have a good recommendation for a great vendor to set it up? Thanks! waptpa
I've used legalzoom.com for a couple of LLCs and am quite happy. I think it was about $500 total for each company. The benefit of an LLC is that it operates as a partnership. So, you are not required to hold board of director meetings as you would with an inc. I beleive there is lots of good info on their site to help make that decision though. /tom/
yep, state fees and form complexity seem to vary widely. unfortunately, Texas is neither cheap or simple. Hence my desire to go through a knowledgable vendor. Waptap
Went with mynewcompany.com. Fast and easy. Do the FEIN yourself though. Takes 5 minutes online at the IRS site. Waptap
Just a thought... If you are serious about your business, try someone local first. A lawyer or accountant. Get some referrals. Why? Because you are going to need accounting and or legal advice along the way as you develop your business. Why not start off now and find someone you feel comfortable with and can turn to for future questions as your business grows? You would be wise to have such counsel available to you as the business develops. Obviously, if you can't find someone to do it for a reasonable price, or this is a "quick-hit" type of business proposition, then go with what you can go with. I have a regular CPA and a regular lawyer. I do not use them often...but when I do it is nice to have someone you already have a relationship with and who know your business...at least a little bit. Just my two-cents...
