My ears were burning, maybe I'll get over here more often:rolleyes: Forum posting is down generally, I personally think that Blogs are responsible but I just cannot get into them. If any of you have a blog that allows my humour (spelt the 'u' way) then please let me know. No one has mentioned WPW -it is still there you know. I post in Warriors but there has been a Mod blitz lately with many good posts getting the elbow. Thanks for the kind words. David

I think it's the combination of Blogs and Forums that people like or will like in the future :) There are very few forums that are like this one. Small communitites get built quickly and cliques are created. I like blogging a lot, you make a comment here and there, post your opinions on your own blog and then promote it as such. Running a forum you need to really know when to step out and let the users help create a vibe that they are comfortable with.

Did I forget to mention WPW? I'd say I'm sorry except that if I were going to recommend a forum where you can learn and have some fun too I thought of your forum at TIP (The In Place) first ... :)

For those that don't know, David (ctabuk), besides owning and running a very successful business, also runs his own webmaster forum (listed above), and moderates and participates in too many forums to list. Some of the more infamous places you'll find him include:

    Digital Point
    Total Web Talk
    WebProWorld
    Band of Gonzos

    ... and many more.

No matter what forum you find him in, there's undoubtedly going to be some good information, resources, and fun.

are there any marketing-specific forums out there? A lot of the links posted so far are very much webmaster-oriented (not surprising given the people being asked!)

I've been looking for a place to discuss real-world marketing as well as online marketing; for just online marketing discussion, a combination of WWW, Digitalpoint and Cre8asite should be more than good enough!

For online marketing, there's a young chap from your neck of the world that has http://www.talkadsense.com which is a great concept for a forum - actually, I think he's looking to sale it though if there's an enterprising person out there ...

Cardinal sin of starting up a message board: don't have too many forums! Apologies if that's not actually your own site (or son/daughter's site) but I assumed it was yours from the Freshdames link, so I thought you might appreciate the tip... In any case, that's not what I'm looking for - thanks though Liminal for the recommendation, spot on.

Perhaps there's a niche for a community like that? I'm thinking of putting my domain name, puretrends.com, to good use. If anyone's up for a new project of this nature let me know!

No Bradley, not my forum, the young man is in the UK, sorry, I don't remember exactly where.

Glad Liminal gave you something worthwhile though.

Your project sounds promising for sure - if there are people looking for that niche and can't easily find it, then you've definitely got a good inside track; good luck!

Solid point - that's ONE of the main reasons I don't frequent that place like I do other forums.

Have you heard of popup-blockers and/or Firefox?

Yes Liminal, I have the Google toolbar which is great with blocking popups, but I still find it personally tacking and unprofessional to be using excessive popups, especially on a webmaster resource center or forum so I won't return to a site employing them. It's just a personal pet peeve, but I stick to it nonetheless.

You are right. I feel the same way about that stuff. I just hope SitePoint is doing it out of necessity having proved that no popups = no sales for them. Great site otherwise.
