What are people's recommended webmaster/marketing forums? I am interested in finding any little gems out there. Obviously ther is the excellent DP and WMW.

Any others comparable in their niche areas?

WebMasterWorld...which is obsessive about not linking to other sites, and banned Shawn and mention of DigitalPoint, apparently...

I have a webmaster/marketing forum that some find useful...
    http://www.platinax.co.uk/forum/

though it doesn't at all match DP for scale.

Not to highjack this thread but . . . . why did Shawn get banned from WMW? He's seems like a resonable guy.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Webmasterworld is always a bit to prim and proper for my liking, much prefer the company here.

You can read the details over here.

Not only did I get banned, but "digitalpoint" is a disallowed word on the forum (you can't create a post with that word in it). heh

As far as other forums... I'm a bit biased (of course) for this one, but if SitePoint is my favorite outside of this one.

If you were an old member of WMV banning for URL posting accidental should not really get you banned. !

but if you were a new member, then rules are rules.

I particularly like cre8asiteforums.com - very high level discussions, great people and a small community type feel.

I've seen WMW and it simply doesn't appeal to me .... too much ego.

I post in a few forums that I find resourceful, and of course, entertaining.

Of course, I mean besides Digital Point :D

I like Total Web Talk for good webmaster help. It's a small but growing forum; I like it because it has a good core group of diverse backgrounds. It's just big enough to get attention and have great posters, but small enough you don't get lost in the shuffle.

I like Band of Gonzos which I just signed up for but I'm liking it already; beyond the great minds, it's a real hoot too!

Another forum I try to frequent is that crazy Brit's David Castle (aka ctabuk) many of you probably know. He has some great minds and hilarious people over there.

I love it when people try to monitor what you can and can't say about them outside of their own forum
wow, I have signed up there as member #13 but haven't been on for a while, looks like it's starting to grow in there :)

In addition to cre8asite (love it), WPW (too big), and WMW(too something), I also hang out at the Internet Warriors Forum and Joel Comm's AdsenseChat Forums.

Highrankings.com has a popular forum, but I have never tried it. I think it concentrates more on SEO.

Though I recommend both SitePoint and Digitalpoint as my top 2 webmaster forums I have to say SitePoint is fast becoming a WMW with all the new fees. I see "Subscriptions" and content only "Subscribed" users can access not far off.

They are also one of the many forums that don't allow SE robots (or guests in general) to be able to see your signature links. That sucks because not only do you miss out on the little backlink value you get from sigs but also any guest that may have been interested in your link will never see it.

(P.S. please don't start a "sig links have no SEO value" argument. I used sig links only to gain a PR4 on a site just before SPF started blocking them so I happen to know that's categorically not true.)
