Hello everyone, Please be nice, this is my first attempt to make a successful blog, let alone monetize it. Okay here it is: http://healthylifejournal.org The blog is solid (IMO) and I update the main articles (water, sleep, ect.) Almost on a daily basis. I have some ads on the right, although I don't get any clicks, and am getting like 200 unique hits a day... That being said, I am fairly sure I am completely in the supplemental index. Yesterday I started submitting to directories, I finished with about 60, want to get to 1000. I have been trading links with other sites and such, so I think I'm on the right track as far as building it goes. So my questions are: (1) What else can I be doing to get traffic? (2) After submitting to 1000 directories, what kind of results might I see? (3) How long does it take before google sees my backlinks? (Sites range from PR0-PR4) (4) What would you recommend for monetizing the site? (I have been toying with writing an ebook). Any help is much appreciated!
Ya, I started the blog like 6 months ago, but I was never serious about it. However a couple days ago I decided to pick it up and run full speed with it. So there will definitely be a post or two a day from now on. I was just curious about what to do, and what not to do as far as making it successful go.
Consistent posting frequency is the key in blogging. Apart from that have a commenting strategy on other similar blogs and that will bring you some targetted readers. Write guest posts on other blogs with decent readership. use stumbleupon, digg, reddit, sphinn and other SN sites to get some traffic. Monetizing, I have a complete list of monetizing your blogs at http://www.gnaka.com/opportunities-list which should help.
First thing I would do is sign up with someone like aweber & add a script from them to enable people to sign up - so you can start getting a list to promote to Second - correct the spelling in your category listing - you have spelt the word healthy wrong in "Healhty Living Tips" hehee Third - find forums where your target market are - for healthy living I would figure - female 20 - 40years old so join up some mothers websites and share your thoughts on healthy living etc - plus have a signature with your web address and an offer for those that visit - I have an ebook with over 600 chocolate recipes that would be a great incentive. Fourth - Be creative - we all know that SEO, backlinks and getting number 1 in google is tough - so think outside the square - eg: put some decals on your car with your web address on - the list is endless - good luck Cheers Scott
