I have an extensive email list that I need to clean. I have not used it in about 8 months and need to find out which ones need to be removed because if bounce backs, etc.

Anyone have any recommendations on how to do this very cheap?

Write a script yourself to test them. 30 minutes work to find the examples and write it, then it just chugs through and spits out the result.

aaah, then you are back to paying someone to do it.

You can turn your PC into a server, you wouldn't want to use it for anything other than development or test scripts but it's fine for what you are discussing - a bit of overkill for your skill set, I suspect.

I'm pretty sure you can hire someone else to do that for you. Someone who knows what's he's doing. I have no idea how to do it either. But I wish I could help.

Mate, Just load them into your autoresponder account and let it sort them out for you.

Most of the majors have a list import feature and they will soon find the dead emails.
Just offer a nice freebie to get them to re-confirm. (some don't need people to re-confirm they just get added)

It will take all of 2 seconds to do, I just imported an old list and everyone got sent a confirm mail.
I lost 80% of the list but the 20% that are left I know open the emails. (They had to confirm)

    Hope that helps Mate

I think all major autoresponders have an option to do this, even a lot of the free ones.
