I'm looking for a new host with a long history of stability, reliability, good uptime and good tech support. Currently on a VPS.

    Requirements:

    - Ability to stand up to high traffic across multiple domains
    - Monthly payment options (Paypal preferred)
    - Free transfer of current sites (including mYSQL databases etc)

Any recommendations? I'm not looking for offers from DP members who have reseller accounts or new hosting companies as I cannot afford to take a risk. If I move hosts, it has to be to a quality company with a good track record.

tommertag, the issue with 1and1 is not while you're there, more when your trying to leave. I've heard nothing but bad things, especially when you have a domain through them.

Check out wiredtree.com or knownhost.com as well. I've heard great things about them.

For every good Hostgator story I hear a bad one about overloading servers and such like. That not the case?

With that requirement then I think you should go for VPS. And I recommend DigitalLinx(Based on experience) or Liquidweb(based on research).

    Good luck bro...

    I'm using Tektonic VPS solution.
They accept Paypal for monthly payment, never had any problem, good tech support when I moved DB and code.

I have been using DataKL, they have been in the business for three years now and never had any issues with them.

I would stress that if you're looking for reliability, you should really search for hosts that don't oversell. You'll really notice the difference. With that mentioned, I'd like you to include my own Company in your decision process - but I don't know if that's what you'd be looking for. It's not new, and it's certainly not a reseller account, however; you did mention you weren't looking for offers.

We enjoy having serious customers, with their head on their shoulders.

With all "promoting" aside, my statement still stands. Go with a host that doesn't oversell. Most of the larger hosts try and trick you with all of these eye-catching deals, when in reality, they're just a marketing ploy. Stay away from unlimited, and stay away from overselling.

There are lots of companies out there, just look around for the best solution.

I'd try out a few different people on shared packages before moving into a permanent solution.

Well, after going through a variety of hosting services, I tried out FeatherHost and would like to say they are really good! I would like to make it very clear I'm in no way working for them, I'm just a happy customer who has finally found a good hosting service so want to spread the word to keep them alive. I've found they have great customer service (never had to wait longer than 4 hours for a reply), great hosting (very fast) and are very affordable.

Anyway, that's just my recommendation ;)

Host Gator doesn't offer VPS's, don't know why people keep suggesting them. Especially considering a site like that needs a VPS at least.

Yeah. The more I'm reading about them, the more I'm being put off hosting with them. I wouldn't dare risk returning to shared hosting.
