If you want to go for the big guns then go for Canon digital SLR models

If you are aspiring to become one then I recommend for a Canon 590IS the best price to performance ratio containg camera with a lot of manual option possiblities.

This has 8 Mega Pixels with 4X optical zoom with Optical image stabilization.
I have one and trust me it has everything.

How about the Nikon Coolpix S610? Its new EXPEED image processing is awesome!

 

You need to say what could influence your decision. Zoom, pixels, speed, ISO, and a host of other parameters play a big role in deciding.

 

I bought a sony and have absolutely loved it taken some great photos with it they are a good brand

 

I will prefer you to go for Digital SLR's if you want the best quality.

 

I prefer Canon or Sony. You can pick plenty of camera models from them.
