    Hello digital designer

If you want to go for the big guns then go for Canon digital SLR models
    dcresource.com is a good site.

If you are aspiring to become one then I recommend for a Canon 590IS the best price to performance ratio containg camera with a lot of manual option possiblities.

This has 8 Mega Pixels with 4X optical zoom with Optical image stabilization.
I have one and trust me it has everything.

    Best for a pro aspirant.
    Good Luck.

You need to say what could influence your decision. Zoom, pixels, speed, ISO, and a host of other parameters play a big role in deciding.

I prefer Canon or Sony. You can pick plenty of camera models from them.

That depends on your budget. I personally like the Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens.

I personally own Nikon D80 and I am very satisfied with its quality. And yes, if you are looking for professional photography, do not go any lower than DSLR.
If you want to compare different cameras and read reviews with sample photos, go to www.dpreview.com
I do not want to hijack the thread, but once you get your camera, I suggest to sign up for photojojo newsletter and visit often digital-photography-school.com . These are great learning resources.
    Hope this helps.
