We need someone to manage/administer our unmanaged dedicated server. Someone who can monitor, secure, and update our server regularly. Any suggestions? Preferably been in the business for over 3 years. And anyone here has experience dealing with PlatinumServerManagement.com? What can you say about PSM?

Well, I got you covered for the security part, I am able to secure your website/server. As for control management, seek Google querying "Best server management tool" or replace tool with "service".

I've heard PSM are excellent for what they do, and the prices they charge, as they offer features such as unlimited admin work time.

PSM is pretty good, but you need cPanel based servers for them.

But they are not Proactive, they are kind of reactive.

I can give another vote for PSM, I used them when I was a host, and they did good for me. However, like ishan said, they aren't proactive. Of course, you're only paying $30 a month for service, so how much can you really expect? For that price, you can't expect them to be proactive.

You can read may review about PSM in WHT. Most of them used to be very positive but recently they got negative ones.

I can help: updates, patches, database tuning, web server tuning, firewall, various software. I also run a complete monitoring system for httpd/mysql/mail/dns servers. My fee is $100 / CPU core / month.

PSM is really good considering the price. They're not proactive, and they have gotten some negative reviews lately. However, the negative reviews lately I think is from people expecting a lot from PSM. Their ticket responses are very fast, within an hour usually, but sometimes that's not fast enough for people. What can you expect for $30 bucks a month?

They are a place to stay away from.

Lets say you have a server, and somehow someone got on there and started sending out mass spam emails. They will never see it until your box gets yanked and erased. PSM will be like oh opps we do not help with that.

Now for most people who goto them with no clue what they are doing, is bad.

They are getting bad reviews lately because of all of the various updates for php / apache (which they do not support the newest version, wtf is that), which they will NOT do.

If you are running a dedicated server, and you do not have enough money to get someone who is proactive , then get out of business. Because you are not ready.
