    I don't know if this is the right area to post this but I am needing recommendation on a good forum script for my website.

    I am very new to web design and would like something free if possible and easy to set up.

    Can someone direct me which way to go?

    Thanks,

    Pat

    I recommend phpBB3 for free forum software. I think you will find many people will agree that it's robust and there is a large community for support.

    I have an article here that you may want to read.

    As for your options. The three mains ones I would focus on are phpBB, SMF and MyBB. Each has their own advantage and they each have their disadvantages.

    I suggest you take a look at their websites and get a feel for them. Are there any specific features you are looking for?

    Well.. you can try SMF (small machine forum, or something like it). It's better than phpBB (to my mind) and also freeware! And if you want to buy a great engine - vBulletin of course :)

    I

    Hey rockinaway. I am really not sure what features I am looking for. It is for a dog training website I built via HTML. I guess I should check out similiar forums to get a feel and then go from there. Very new to this so I am just checking out what others prefer. Thanks to all for your recommendations now it is time for research.

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, this topic must close now.

    Paid = Vbulletin
    Free = phpBB3 or SMF or MyBB (Anyone you like, all are great)

    Regards
