One of our clients competitors is somehow getting their redirected domain to become indexed in the Google SERPS. When you click the link to their site in the SERPS you're redirected to their homepage. How is Google indexing this url? Search for "Steve Silver" in Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&...h=794&q=Steve+Silver&aq=f&aqi=p-p1g9&aql=&oq= As soon as you click the link you're instantly redirected from: stevesilver(dot)com to ssilver(dot)com but the stevesilver(dot)com website is being indexed!?!
Any idea how long ago this change was made? If it's a recent redirect chances are Google hasn't changed it over yet. The other possibility is that the stevesilver.com domain has a tonne of backlinks which is why Google is still giving it SERPs. Just my opinion of course.
The stevesilver.com domain has more backlinks than the other, so this might be the reason why google shows the SERP for that domain.
That means if you buy a new domain, redirect it to your existing site, then build more backlinks than your existing site your redirected domain will appear in the Google SERPS? That just doesn't make sense, and I hate to say it, but I don't buy it.
Google will take up to a week or more depending on your site to make this transition. Whenever it next crawls your website.
Webmasters buy some expired domain and use it to get the benefit of links associated with it for their existing websites. It seems as this website is doing the same! This can give benefit to that website, but it shouldn't last for long!
