    Can someone explain what a reciprocal link is in reference to SEO?

Reciprocal Links are a category of links, which can be either one-way or two-way, usually referenced as "Resources" or "Information" in navbars, but sometimes, especially in the early, less compartmentalized years of the Web, simply called "links". Basically, they are hyperlinks to a website or a specific webpage containing content believed to be beneficial, useful and relevant to visitors of the site establishing the link.

    Reciprocal links means a website can only give you a link by exchanging its link to your website.

    It is one of the type of Link Exchange, in which a webmaster request to another that if you will put my websites link on your website then in i will also put your same website link on the same website.

    Thank you productsmarine and raxseo for the explanations too, that helps so much. I'll ask this next question in another post if not applicable here.
    I'm on a directory site and already entered my url and then it asks me the following and posts their url href at the bottom. Do I need to enter a different link url for the reciprocal link :
    "Reciprocal Link URL: _____________________________

    To validate the reciprocal link please include the
    following HTML code in the page at the URL
    specified above, before submiting this form:"

    Reciprocal Link Building is a approach in which link exchange has been occur.. In this approach you have to place your friend link on your site and your friend have to place your link on his site.

    You don’t need to link back to all sites... If you get similar sites from yours then you can look for link for link exchange. Before you start I want to you suggest don’t go with all directory sites. Do link building for your site by contacting webmaster by their email or email a link exchange mail with your site. Directory submission is much better for one way linking

    Thank you. So you think its a better idea for me to ask webmasters to do a link exchange than to try to list my sites on in a directory? Should I still do some directories, but just not a bunch of them?
