reciprocal pingback links - should I delete them?

I hav pingback / trackbank enabled on my blog. Whenever it is possible I link from newer posts to older post. This obviously puts a trackback link from the old post to the new post, and gives a resiprocal links between my pages..

Should I delete those reciprocal links, or does it matter?

I think you shouldn´t delete them because they are good for your internal SEO

If they're within your Web site (and that's what it appears to be), then leave them there. The worst that'll happen is you'll redistribute some of that page's PageRank to the other page. <sarcasm> (Ooh, big loss.) </sarcasm>

Many people believe that pingbacks should be removed completely, reason being you are redistributing the PR 'BUT' every time PR juice flows some of it leaks due to 'decay' factor (otherwise the whole internet will have PR10).

You should either disable these pingbacks or you should make sure these internal pingbacks are dofollow (otherwise more of your PR is leaking).

Internal linking within your site is recommended by Matt Cutts too. So, make it dofollow and get some PR juice distributed to your internal pages.

I don't think any of you understand. First yes, there are dofollow and yes linking to inner pages is a good thing. BUT:

By linking to post A from post B, the pingback creates a link from post A to B, thus creating a reciprocal link within my site.

So, should I delete generated pingback link from post A to B?

Hope it makes more sense :)

Now you are more clear, i think it is better to have it flow from one way like old to new. if the page B is old then flow to page A and delete from A to B. I can't keep this order as i have no tool so what i do is the reverse. Every time i create new pages link back to old ones. This will keep growing the strength of old pages more and more, so more is the age of a page on my site will have more links to it from my site.

Was what I was thinking. The links are great to avoid old posts being removed from SE results. Will take a few more comments on this before I delete those trackback links;)

Just leave bofadem alone. It's within your own site so you'll be fine. All you're doing is "redistributing" not "bleeding" PageRank.

You should delete them as they are of no use to your readers and commenters

It always depends on what page you want to push through (PR) and what page you want to sacrifice. I use post A, B and C to increase the PR of post D Since page D is important page that carry the company kw heavily. If you do not have any purpose and you want every page of your site equal leave it there.
