If it's from a website with similar type of content as yours, then I guess they wouldn't penalize a reciprocal link.
They think link exchanges are articificial ways to boost your PR, one of the factors for ranking in SERPs.
Well I hear hard link trades is what improves PR. I see a lot of humor sites with like 100 site wide link trades have a PR6 in 3 months. So I beleive more links with high PR does help a lot.
there are.. effective ways of using the link exchange technique. You can try to trade links which are similar to yours. and make sure the site you are exchanging links with is not a spammy site and has good ILQ. Or in other words...study the site before doing any trade. One way linking has more value btw.
I started using telalinks.com and I dont know if they are helping yet, it's only been a couple of weeks, but I did go from like 50 links to around 850 - I figured I would try it out you know.
link exchange is not bad. and who told you that google don't like link exchange. if u exchange link with relevant site, then its ok. Google won't penalize you for link exchange. But how much value you will get from google its totally depends on the links quality. But one way link is always better than reciprocal. thanks w.s
link exchange from link exchange directories (sometimes called link farm) is useless. Rest are fine (IMHO)
Massive reciprocal links aren't going to get you anywhere (many have tried and failed). Honestly, no one here really knows what the heck goes into Google's SERPs, it's constantly being tweaked and changed by the Google guys.
If you are looking to increase your pagerank then reciprocal links alone wont do it (If you are aiming for PR4 and above that is)... Now, reciprocal links do help (traffic-wise in my case) but don't focus on reciprocal links only!. If you have a nice mixture of reciprocal and one way links then you have a better chance of increasing your PR. Avoid trading links with sites which will place your link on a link farm or pages which have a high amount of outgoing links, because the more links a page has the less value will be placed on the links in general, as it looks more like an average "link page". If you get to place a link to your site on a relevant page which has more content than links and a good page rank then that particular link alone will out weight a whole bunch of reciprocal links you may have. Focus on quality links, not quantity. Have you heard the line "in order to catch a criminal you must think like one"?... Google does the same thing with spammers. If a fairly new site gains a whole bunch of links (i.e. 850) over a short period then it looks more to them like an attempt to manipulate SERPs and and gain PR (There are exceptions to this.. news sites, press release sites, etc). It is better to gain links gradually as it looks more "natural". Another extremely important thing is to VARY your anchor texts. Avoid having the same anchor text in hundreds of sites (ie. click here, click here, click here) as it looks a lot like spam. Now, links will help you gain pr (if you focus on quality links)... but links are not the only factor influencing page rank. Your site must have unique, useful content updated regularly. You should also have good on-page optimization and an attractive design. Keep in mind that google changes its algorithms often and the data centers are updated regularly as well. What worked a few years ago (reciprocal link exchanges) will not work as good as it did back then. IMHO one way links on relevant (non-spammy) sites are much better.
Reciprocal links hardly carry any weight anymore especially compared to one-way links. link exchanges are ok when it is mutually beneficial for the both of you for traffic you will receive from each other, but pointless if for gaining higher results in serps. google dosnt recommend any practice that is soley for the serps and isnt beneficial to the user. it's all in googles webmaster guidelines
3 way link exchanges helps that problem lol - sites not linking to each other but both people benefit
no, but I have seen increased traffic all the domains I tried it with. I only tried it with a few to see what happens.
Sure, they help raise your page rank. It's a good idea to mix both reciprocal and one way links too. If you're looking for a good service to get your site submitted to directories, check out Mr. Kumar's service. Just read the sticky at the top of this forum.
All one way links are good. We do link exchange to get more related site. It helps you improved your rankings.
