I am submitting my website to directories and I made a page on my website called links.php where I am putting reciprocal links. Though I don't have this page, links.php, linked anywhere from my main website. Does this matter? Should I make a link to this links.php from my index.php? I don't really want to make a link as this is my small business. And of course what is best for Google to see happening? edit: I am trying to say best for Google, but the forum is deleting best up above. And after this edit it now says "best". Very weird.
No reciprocal link partner would exchange links with you if you have not properly linked your links page on your site.
The partner is looking not to get screwed, which you are essentially doing by not providing a physical link to your link page.
So as long as I place a link to that links page it should be fine? I just placed this link at the bottom of my page. I don't want to cheat anyone, just trying to figure out what is the least noticeable I can be with this page. I also plan to clean this link page up so it actually matches my main webpage instead of just pure links.
Does someone physically go to my webpage to find the link? Or is this more automated and they see that my links.php is linked on my index.php?
Of course mate. Also, by not physically linking to the link page, the link exchange partners are getting cheated because the link is not passing any link juice.
Thanks for bearing with me on this. I wanted to make sure its obvious that there is a links page on my index file without cluttering or making my main page ugly.
This Thread is interesting. I'm also troubled about this reciprocal link so most of the time I ignored all of those directory who wanted to have their link be also in your site. Because someone said to me that it really is bad for seo. I don't know if its just a Hokum but I do believe it for some unknown reason. I'm still baffled about this so I'm going to check this thread from time to time.
This is SO 2001. A 'reciprocal link page' is absolutely useless. You are effectively telling Google 'here's who I link to, in exchange for a reciprocal link, feel free to totally discount any links TO me that you find on ANY of these sites'. Geddit???? edit: you're also telling Google that either you can't be arsed to read up on best practise linking strategies, or even worse, you just don't care. maybe you should throw up a few million autogenerated 'doorway' pages too. Or repeat your keywords 100,000 times at the foot of your page in text the same color as the background. My God.
instead of putting directories links on a page like links.php submit your site on not reciprocal option if the submitted directory has. on my directory if a submitted site has a reciprocal link which replaced on a page like links.php i immediately remove the site without hesitation. I think reciprocal links like that is effects the seo negatively
Would you like to tell us how Google will know which links are reciprocal and which are not? As far as G. concern a link is a link is a link and even if you tell G. that you have link to site that gave you link, why and what for G. would punish you? fastreplies
Google is smart he it knows all the transactions of your sites and listen have you ever use google analytics? if google gives us oppurtunity to use it then imagine what type of technology they have for their own use...
Would you like to point me to where Google says that having link to some site is against G. rules. Now can you? fastreplies
Good grief, people have been linking to other sites since the Internet was first invented. Link to a bunch of unrelated crap and you might run afoul of the almighty G. Use links like you would personal referrals and you should be fine. Playing games like making a reciprocal page that's hidden is just silly.
if you get link from related website, yes it will be good for your website. of course it depends how many external links on linking page.
