Reciprocal Link Mess

I am new to all of this SEO stuff and I diligently adding links to my site, but it seems as though everywhere that I go I end up having to put a reciprocal link on my site, which I understand. The problem is, what in the world am I supposed to do with all of these links that I really don't want on my site, especially the ones that aren't content related.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Pick your links more carefully. Sounds like if you were a girl you would be in trouble for not knowing how to say NO!

I am not a female, but I see your point. Oh well, I guess I just have to search for those without reciprocal requirements.

My point was just choose your links carefully. It link does not fit your model, look elsewhere. Reciprocal links are not bad.

I did an e-commerce site and had page for manufacturers featured on the site. Seemed like a logical reciprocal arrangement.

You may try to seek out sites similar to yours in content and PR, then email the owners to request a link exchanges. This has worked well for me in the past. You may even go ahead and put up a link to the site in question before emailing, to let the owner know you're serious.
