Reciprocal links are good, but can not be considered as best....... such links are very useful for websites and helps you to achieve high ranking to your targeting page. But other than reciprocal links there are other links types too which can help you to build pagerank for your site. Three-way linking and one-way linking are two other types which can be used. such links types can be achieved by link exchange technique (three-way linkexchange), beside this forum comment and blog posting and comment for one0way links ......
I have made a reciprocal link exchange with not relevant website. Can I be banned for it? Link is placed in a widget on the homepage in "link partners" section.
But if you have higher page rank and the site from you have exchanged link have lesser pr then you can loose some rank in future. So always try to exchange links with relevant and either with high ranker or same rank sites
Actually one way links is better than reciprocal links. Typically, reciprocal links are what you get from directories. Which adds up a link in your site, which may seem unprofessional if you have a nice authority site.
