I currently have a reciprocal link exchange program on my site. However, I am wondering if this program is actually hurting my page rank. I am thinking about either removing it or just having links specifically relevant to my site. Any opinions on reciprocal link exchange programs and whether they should be included on sites? Thanks.
i think you can keep the link on your site... but, put it in your footer, so it doesn't matter... usually such that... and quality backlink is good way to promote... one way of google determine your pagerank is count how many backlinks... but, i didn't make link exchange...
I don't think reciprocal links hurt PR, I thought it was the offer of paid links on your site that did.
They probably do use metrics where the sites you link to must be relevant to the content of your site. I do remember reading that newer google ranking algorithms were penalizing "link farms." Now whatever they define as a link farm is unknown to me, but just try not to get several thousand links to and from your site that aren't relevant to your content.
