I like it. The only problems is the menu is too small. I would make it larger. And remove the amazon.com search thingy. It looks cheese. The geek logo is funny.
I would also remove the counter, or put it all the way down. It brings down the site. Good work though.
Spread the fire of geekyness! I've spent just one minute on your site and i've already read two cool itmes. keep it up.
Too much ADSENSE straight in your face on the home page, you should integrate the ads in better. Plus you don't need the big header logo, it slows down the page load on dialup connections.
fbernard, on the visual side of things it isn't a bad job. I would reduce the padding of the body so that the header sits flush to the browser window, then add padding to the content area to achieve the current effect. Adsense... as far as I am aware only one advert is allowed per page. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong. I have to agree with other users comments about the menu been a little too small. I would also add an underline upon hover to the menu items to show their link status. As for the coding, you have quite a lot of errors (45 to be exact). validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fmygeekyplace.com%2F I would suggest fixing these.
Not in your hands perhaps but I (and lots of others) have great success with Amazon's affiliate tools. Jumping the conclusions and generalizing without good arguments won't get you far.
I have also had some mild success with amazon ads.. my site is not the best in the world either... it is less than a week old and very minimal traffic~only about 900 hits since Sunday....
As of right now, I think the way you have the adsense stuff in there flows nicely. Also, I love the idea of how you have fit the content together.
You may wanna set unique page titles. Also, in the menu, you should consider removing the index.html from the "Home" link. Point the link to your domain only: mygeekyplace*com. Good luck...
I have made some minor changes, like the logo has been updated with an added menu, the side menu font links have been enlarge, with mouse over effects, the tables are now aligned with the logo, and every random topic has a bold heading.
