Hello, I recently changed hosts and have a new dedicated IP for my website. The problem is that my site is a classifieds e-commerce site which requires those who register to click on a registration confirmation link via an email that is sent to their email address. Since I changed IP's I've noticed that gmail is sending my registration confirmation emails directly to spam. This did not happen with my old dedicated IP. I've tried to find a contact number or email address for gmail but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any advice or can you explain what is happening here? Thanks!
I'm assuming that I was issued an IP that someone else had owned and abused by sending spam to email addresses on gmail. Is it conceivable that a host could have their entire range of IP addresses blocked or considered as spam? Anyone have a contact or email address at gmail they could share so I could get this matter resolved? Thanks so much
Look up the IP in blacklists using any of a zillion tools you can find online for this purpose (e.g., http://www.mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx ). If it appears in any of them and the reason has to do with spamming or an open relay, you can either ask your ISP for a new IP, or petition the blacklist people to remove you. I suspect the former of the two will be a lot easier.
Thanks SmallPotatoes, I did check the site you suggested and the IP does not appear to have any issues with the 124 checked sites. This really confuses me, as I stated it really appears to be an issue with google and gmail.
