    Hey folks.

The PR update yesterday has upgraded my site from PR 4 to PR 5.

    http://www.leadership-expert.co.uk

Thats from brand new domain, to pagerank 5 in less than 5 months.

So I wonder how long it took other webmasters on here to see similar results for their SEO work?

Share my secrets? Well, I can share 'some' of them (of course you always have to keep your SEO gems close to your chest otherwise they become worthless).

But my strategy was as follows -

Do-Follow blog commenting. None of that bot spam rubbish - I write proper, individual and interesting comments. Not only does it maximise the chances of the link staying up, but it's ethical too - as bloggers encourage this sort of commenting. Luckily many of my keywords don't sound commercial, e.g. 'leadership', and therefore my comments do just look like... perfectly nice comments. And that's because they are!

Article Distribution. I use isnare for my article distributions. (I won't include an affiliate link, but I suggest you research them). They're relatively cheap, and I've written about 20-30 articles. However they're slow to publish, and currently have a hug backlog.

Directory Submissions. I've paid a couple of SEO firms to handle some directory submissions for me. The first time, my rankings were downgraded for about 2 weeks, but then soared to better than ever. Probably done about 200 directory submissions - I've tried to stick to the 'cream' of the crop, rather than blast my site to like 1000 directories. It's better value for money that way.

But now this leaves me with a dillema, (reaching PR5). I thought that once I'd got there, I'd be where I wanted to be SERPSwise, but I still have a long way to go! You never know, I may even end up as PR6! That would be truely awesome.

I hope you find hearing about my personal strategy useful.

Total spend on SEO has been $100. Revenue from the site now averages $10 per day, so you can see it's not a very high cost. But that's because I've put in about 300 hours minimum of my own work, I've only paid for services that I simply can't do (article distributions and directory submissions) in large quantities without wasting my life away.

Did you really think that getting to PR5 would somehow make your rankings go up? PR means nothing unless you want to sell links. You could be PR10 and still suck wind in the SERPs. All you have to do to get PR5 is build enough inbound links. Having PR5 because you have a bunch of links w/ "click here" or "http://www.example.com/" as you link text will do absolutely nothing for your rankings in the SERPs. If those links do not contain the keyword phrase(s) you want to rank for, they are essentially worthless as is the PR being passed to your URL.

There is a lot more to SEO and specifically link development than directory submissions, blog commenting, and article submissions. Of the 3... article submission is probably the best (closest to natural) method but not if you're writing a single article and submitting it to 200 article submission sites. While this may boost your PR, it doesn't do much for your rankings. Not only are the articles duplicate, but you now have 200 inbound links that have the EXACT same link text. That just does not look natural.

You are better off writing lots of articles and submitting each to a single, high quality article submission site. With each article use variations of the keyword phrase(s) you're trying to rank for. It's Ok to have some of them use the same targeted keyword phrase, but you need to mix it up so that they look natural.

Would be interesting to know if your SEO efforts have resulted in better SERPs for your targeted keywords as well as other improvements such as increase in traffic, etc.?
