Hey if you really want to help webmasters there are lots of users requesting status check for their websites at http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/forumdisplay.php?f=13 , feel free to join with any identity and start helping out if you like. Instead of saying submit and forget its always great to point out shortcomings of ones site so the owner can change his/her website accordingly so dmoz is happy and so are they after seeing their sites listed. s How dmoz helps site is a totally different topic which i will not go into. But i think its time editors stopped doing suck ups to those evil metas and start actually helping others. What you sow is what you shall reap. So you help others, they will thank you and if needed help you in whatever manner they can ( i do not mean monetary). I have no idea who is an editor actually anymore on dmoz cause seems like the volunteer work is no where to be seen. I see only bitching about editors bad, dmoz bad, and those who actually try to help getting thrown out of dmoz by so called "Volunteer" they are like those backstabbing bastards now, who kick, spit on and stab the new editors just cause they did not do a suck up and lick their asses for them. SO much for "Volunteer" edited directory. Those who were truly volunteer or are truly volunteer you can see them at http://www.dmoz-resources.com/zone/ helping others out. Annie, Skunky(dunno his real dmoz profile id though), ivan, scrooze, billy and many more like exeditor(he has been really helpful and great member i thank him personally here, dunno if he is member of DP or not though). Who actually took their time to help out and look what happened? They got kicked, and accused of shit and what not, skunky left dmoz cause of the crap hanging around at dmoz itself. But they truly are "volunteers" and I personally would like to thank them for their services to others, others might thinks its a useless thing they are doing but posts like this " You're right. Thanks " "Thank you for the response!" "Thank you for taking the time to check my site status. I'm relieved that my site hasn't been rejected...not yet, anyway." "Thanks so much for the heads-up, Energizer Bunny. I'm frankly ecstatic. If I could do backflips, believe me I would. A huge thank you to the dmoz editor who approved my site. Woohoo!" Notice the word "Thank" users who get helped do not just leave without saying Thank you , and that is the best return any editor can get for their hard work they do at dmoz itself. So, personally i would like to Thank all true editors who still believe in volunteer work for keeping dmoz going and helping users in any manner they can, and would like to say " Go to hell" to those editors who have disgraced Dmoz and its name cause of their selfish acts and power hungry disgraceful acts. Over and Out do continue posting whatever you guys were posting. Buts its time we as a community started helping out more often than just bitching all the time. Bitching gets no where. And remember love is stronger than hatred. Regards to all. And remember its not Dmoz thats bad, its the fked up editors at dmoz, and remember there are still bunch of really good editors still there helping out. But most have been thrown out so i think its only matter of days that all the good bunch of editors will be gone and that day will be the last day for dmoz.
Seems like they agreed with your idea on this, because the apply for editor link is now down - The requested URL could not be retrieved
This is a good example on the worst way to run a business. They are destroying the wonderful ODP just because of stupidity and bad leadership.
I was able to get to an application form after several tries. The error you received is an error that appears periodically all over the directory, not just the editor application. This has been happening ever since the crash last year. I doubt they will ever have all the links working properly all the time. It appears to be random links that cannot be retrieved.
It's back online (though I did not bother to submit). One of the problems with DMOZ is they are hosted in an unlit cellar in disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying Beware of the Leopard. They continuously need to replace the poor hamsters that power the thing as well... outages and errors are commonplace. Sadly they disagree. They blame us loud mouth ex-eds for all of their own faults. Which in a way is rather ironic that they blocked editors, in effect creating more of what they despise
