I have been building up a new site for some time. This site provides large amounts of content in the credit niche. One of my pages has been ranking very well, position 6-8 for the two word phrase, and position 2-3 for long tale variations currently pr0 with ~200 quality backlinks. Recently though, I have noticed that one minute I will be in my normal spot, and then shortly later I will not be listed at all. Then shortly after that, i will be back at my same spot. I have so far not been penalized, and been doing white hat promotional link building, with a little bit of blog commenting on both do-follow and no-follow blogs. The thing worth mentioning, is that this was not the case when i was position 9 for that keyword with only a few social bookmarking links posted. Once I kicked the additional link building in, is when I noticed the issue. I think that this could also be what others have been expressing for the past week in this forum. With my engineering background, I am almost positive that google changes the database which is searched multiple times a day, possibly every single search for load balancing perposes. This is a common practice, and can often cause reporting issues. If this is the case, then what I (and others) are seeing, is the fact that the information, while indexed, has not yet propagated to all of the servers. Personally, I am continuing my SEO plan, and continuing to add content. which is what you should do as well. Anyone have feedback regarding this?
