It seems that a major change is happening in Google since mid of January as reported by many reputable names of seo industry. This thing has been reported by many webmasters and seo's in several other forums including digitalpoint and WMW. I am listing down some questions for all of you to please answer. The similarity in answers will decide if this thing is limited to some websites or industry or is this a general thing now. Please answer in yes or no with short explanation. 1. Are your traffic Decline is from usa and UK? 2. Is Traffic Drops only from Google or from other search engines too? 3. Did you notice any decline in GoogleBot Deep Crawling? 4. Is the traffic Drop is sudden or gradual decline? 5. Is your rankings on your major keywords drops? 6. Are your website internal pages caching normally? 7. Decline in Indexing Status Of Your website? Regards Wish you all best of luck
Who are those "many reputable names"? And what is the change reported, are they saying "Google traffic is declining"? Please name a few and post relevant links. Without more information, replying to your survey would seem like a waste of time. I am suspicious of the logic of your post because it jumbles together traffic, rankings, crawl rate and indexing on one post. The survey makes no sense. Think about it: a decline in the rankings experienced by any number of websites has to be matched by a corresponding increase in rankings experienced by the same number of websites (otherwise the top SERPs would be left empty). If your pages have been dropping from the Google index, the most common reason for that are duplicate content and poor website quality.
I'm working on a number of UK targeted sites across a number of verticals, including business finance, the environmnent, and cookery, and I'm not seeing any of those things. Search traffic has been steadily increasing, likewse keyword rankings, no problems with indexing - and I've not heard or read about about anyone having specific problems. I agree entirely with Philipseo - it sounds like the same old same old to me - some sites are doing well, some not so well. No change there.
welcome to DP forums gorgwatcher. See you did the same post as your intro over at WMW as well. Looking forward to your 2nd post about how to overcome the drop in traffic but hope it is not an e-book.
1. Your traffic Decline is from usa and UK? Yep, USA traffic declined by 50% 2. Traffic Drops only from Google or from other search engines too? Google only 3. Did you notice any decline in GoogleBot Deep Crawling? Yes, but I don't deep-link, so perhaps it's my fault. 4. Is the traffic Drop is sudden or gradual decline? I wouldn't say sudden, more like precipitous. 5. Is your rankings on your major keywords drops? Yes, but not to a great extent. I'm talking drops from 2 to 12 6. Are your website internal pages caching normally? I'd say yes 7. Decline in Indexing Status Of Your website? Not really
I totally agree. If you're not continually adding fresh content and creating new quality back links, your site will drop in the Google ranks.
1. Are your traffic Decline is from usa and UK? No traffic decline problems faced yet. 2. Is Traffic Drops only from Google or from other search engines too? Very few from other search engines. 3. Did you notice any decline in GoogleBot Deep Crawling? No, I did not 4. Is the traffic Drop is sudden or gradual decline? As I dont see any traffic drop, so I guess its not sudden, right now. 5. Is your rankings on your major keywords drops? Thankfully, not yet 6. Are your website internal pages caching normally? Yes, they are, infact its been faster than before. 7. Decline in Indexing Status Of Your website? Actually after the PR update, the indexing status has increased.
IMO google gives more weight to new links now so it doesnt count(as it used to be) if you had good links from the past but new fresh links are more critical factor.
