As we all know the Google update in early July screwed many people over. Many of those people were dropped from Google and filed re-inclusion requests. They finally resurfaced towards the end of July and are back in their same top positions (I know a few of them). They no longer use CO-OP, but the backlinks they received from CO-OP are still giving them top positions. I know this because even though I am very aggressive with building quality links with many other sites and pay directories I am still stuck on page 2 for the keywords I am targeting. The front page is filled with X-COOP users... So my question is; Has anyone been brave enough to use Coop recently? If so, how are your results? Good or bad? I am considering giving CO-OP another try... But I don't necessarily want to deal with anything like what we saw in July.
This is a tool that you use at your own discretion. What works for your associates may or may not work for you. It's your call . Cheers H
Hi Ferrarislave: I don't think it's a fair question on this board because you *obviously* know what most are saying and have been saying over the last few months. You can see by the overwhelming response you are getting that few are willing to tell you what they think. I used to use DP but decided to pack it in about a year ago, for my own reasons. The point I was trying to make is, my reasons may be different then yours and for me to share them may not be too well received. I think you may want to read the G patent. It may help you answer your own questions. The linking game, in general is very different today. I'm sure you've already discovered that . I think that this goes well beyond just link networks Good Luck
I now use the Coop Network with 100% nofollow and I would imagine Google not having a problem with that.
Worked for me for months. I got fucked. Taking a break from the co-op for now - i'll be back in the future =).
How can you be so sure Google is not scanning for the co-op PHP code on your site. nofollow was only implemented recently.
Because I upgraded the PHP Code that uses the NoFollow and I also use my Custom ASP.NET 2.0 control that has NoFollow support as well.
I wouldnt bother running co-op if it has nofollow on links... The whole point of co-op was to gain pagerank and backlinks...
To me that's the big grey area (misconception). Most of the members that have joined in the past believe that to be the case. If you actually understand the programmer's logic that's not what it was designed for. It is supposed to be an advertising network, one that will bring traffic to your site from click thrus. I argue, if that was the case why are we putting links (ads) in tiny text at the footer or as indiscreetly placed as possible, in most cases. It seems the programmer's intent and members intended uses are not on the same page. Ad to that Google's new aggression towards link schemes and you have a recipe that doesn't seem to simmer on the stove top anymore. H
Everyone knows why CO-OP got so bit. It's not because people wanted to give advertisers free space on their site. It's because they wanted to rank higher aka cheat...
