Dumb question, no doubt... ...but how does one "refer" someone to the coop and how does the coop know who referred whom?
In your Co-op control panel click 'How to receive weight bonuses' on the right hand side. That will give you an appropriate link like http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?s=2081, if you can't find it you can always use that one
I am not sure but I would guess you get your bonus when the new sites are validated. The site would need to be validated so it knows how much 10% is. They may create an account and take a few days to install the script. It took me a couple of weeks to get around to it Ross
And from experience I can tell that 1/3d of refered sites stay at weight = 0 for a long long time. They will show in your referal list but not giving you any credit.
I got a referral and received weight from him almost immediately. Strangely enough, I noticed over the weekend that he's disappeared from my referral list completely, guess his site got kicked out or something. Kinda sucks, because I was getting some killer weight from him too..
Well I agree about the weight, I know these sites came in at zero. However, the referral has not been incremented. That's why I'm not hunting anyone down to fix it, I'm not losing anything, I'm just putting it out there to see what's said. The folks I reffered are buds that I linked in IM and they went and registered and I coached um, so I'm pretty certain the refferer info was used. It will fall into place I guess.
The referral system is a great way of you keeping an eye on referrals weight, and when it drops or is at zero being able to email them and help them get their weight back. Many are not aware that the "bug" in the co-op/Google API exists so that weight drops to zero regularly and you need to manually revalidate. Many need help with getting the links on ALL their pages - many sites are programmed - PHP or asp etc and they may outsource their programming... or use various purchased packages where it is not straight forward to add the links. I just helped a referrer to use lowercase for their domain name - now it works. They had also used the "bind to master" to bind back to themselves - confused me for a moment till I looked at the account details of each and saw them to be the same.
