Today i received a letter saying i have breached copyright for the term "Runescape", These are the classes in which there trademark is listed, just wondering what that means they are 16,25,41 . and the type of trademark is "word". Also, The website in dispute is just a forum.. am i still liable? Also, is there anyway to get around this type of infringement? I appreciate any advice you can give from a professional to just someone knowledgeable on the matter. Thanks alot, Nick
Hi Nick without knowing all the details I can not advise you but the word Runescape is a registered trade mark in the UK the company that registered it was Gagex Limited registered it. Class 16: Books; player's guides; instructional and teaching materials (except apparatus); printed publications; leaflets; brochures; posters. Class 25: Articles of clothing; T-shirts; hats; caps. Class 41: Entertainment services; leisure services; electronic games services; provision of games by means of local computer networks, global computer networks, the Internet, cable and wire communications services, wireless telecommunications services and broadband telecommunications services. thanks
A "word" mark is what it sounds like. Trademarks can be words (Usually need to be a string of words or a made up word) or images (logos). They are saying they have a trademark on the word Runescape.
