Rebuilding site structure totally...start again?

    Hi,

I'm totally changing the structure of a site, re-coding and adding all new content just basically keeping the design and URL (the site is 3 years old).

The site doesn't rank well in the SERPS due to a dupe content filter I *think* so I want to start a fresh.

My question is if I remove the whole site from the SERPS (using the removal tool) will this affect the "oldness" of the site? Or should I just let Google work it out for itself (this takes a long time though).

So in essence its the best practise of reworking a site! :)

    Thanks

    Hi,

Yes but would you use the google removal tool to delete its index of the site or would you just wait for google to work out the old site is dead and there is new links now?

    Thanks

Google will work it out, Besides when you use those tools your trying to tell the search engines to do something, they want to be given the option.

    DO NOT USE TOOL!

301 is the best solution : you keep your pages' history and popularity (even low), you loose very little or no traffic at all.
I wouldn't start the rebuild until I have indetified what went wrong with the first shot to avoid a futur rebuild.

do not use the google removal tool - make use of 301 and get incoming links for the updated content - google is smart ;) and will sort it out itself :)
